Guardianship
What is a Guardianship ?
Some new players get lost when they open the game, and their poor souls need your help. The Guardianship system is an interesting way for you, advanced players, to help these new players.
The principle role of a Guardian is to help new players. These new players that you help as a Guardian are named Apprentices.
As a Guardian, there are some things that you might do :
- Answer your Apprentice's questions: New players know little about the game, and they will ask you questions as they play the game.
- Help them to find their way : Explain to them how to use the map, where to find the important NPC's, where to start grinding, where to buy/sell equipment, weapons, and potions, where to go to teleport, etc. Everyone needs some help getting around at the start.
- Give them information about the game : Explain to them the different monster colors, the acqistion of pets, the PvP system, the Games Sages and Game Masters, guild system, party system, etc.
- Give them tips : Give your apprentices some tips to help them to improve their gameplay. Tell them about the importance of Skill Points, about your own experience in the game, about what is a bannable offense, etc. You can give them web links to visit to get more information. (Like the AeriaGames Last Chaos forum or this wiki.)
- Give your Apprentices items: Your apprentices may not have enough money to buy their equipment. If you want, you can give them some money, some equipment, pets, potions, etc.
- Guided visit : You can also do a guided tour with your apprentices. Walk with them across Randol, show them the important places, where to go to get what they need, guide them through their pet aquisition quest, etc.
But there are actions that are not recommended:
- Power Leveling : Helping your first time player apprentice to level faster, only because you want your Reputation points or because you want him to get his event weapon, isn't as good as it seems. It's more important for new players to learn the game and to have their characters built well. Your apprentice will reach level 20 in 10 days if they play at all, and the event weapon is a reward for that accomplishment.
- Buying everything : Don't buy everything that your Apprentice needs or wants. Your Apprentices should learn how to make gold and how to spend it. It's better to explain him how and what to buy, and to tell him how and what to sell to an NPC or in merchant mode. Unfortunately there are scammers who start new characters only to get items from their guardians and then delete the characters.
Now that I know what Guardianship is, how can I become a Guardian ?
First, to become a Guardian, you must be at least level 20. You must also register as a guardian so that your name will appear on the guardian list.
Open the Action Windows ( Alt+A ) and then choose the Guardian System button.
The Apprenticeship Mangement window will appear. 1). Press Confirm and the Apprentice list window will appear. 2). Press the Guardian Registration button and the Apprenticeship Application window will pop up. 3). Press Confirm again. You are now registered in the Guardian List.
Now that you are registrated as a Guardian, advice about new players who enter in the game will appear your System chat.
A new player who want to choose a Guardian will now be able to see your name in the Guardian List. *See note below. Once a new player has chosen you as his guardian, an alert windows will appear to you and will ask you if you want to take this new player as your Apprentice or not. If you want to accept, press Confirm, if you don't want to, press Cancel. **See note below.
If you choose to be his Guardian, his information will appear in your Apprentice List window. His name, his current level and his class information will be in the Guardian System Menu. If you click on the [?] button, you will see information about the beginning of his Apprenticeship and the time he must complete it by to let you both gain bonuses.
If you no longer want to be a Guardian, you just have to select the Guardian Retirement button. You will be removed from the Guardian list, you will no longer see the new players' names in the System chat and all of your apprentices will fail their Apprenticeships.
*When your last apprentice graduates you will need to reregister you name on the guardian list. Also, if an apprentice is lookin g for your name on the list, he may need to scroll down and/or renew several times to see it. Also the information on the guardian list is inaccurate, actually totally wrong. Each time he renews the guardian statistics about your character change.
**Before you approve an apprentice application, talk to them first in whisper or in friend chat. Then you will be able to ask them questions to determine if you are the right guardian for them. If they delete you as guardian they cannot get another one. Problems with an apprentice may be: they don't speak English and you don't speak Spanish, they are scammers, they are in a time zone that is incompatible with yours, they desire something from you that you do not wish to provide.
